Elevator Charge - A charge for the additional labor required to move a shipment by way of an elevator. This charge is made once for each time a separate elevator is needed. For example if an elevator is needed at origin and at destination the charge is made twice. If an elevator is used from the street to the basement and a second from the basement to the residence floor the charge is made twice for that end of the move, and a third time for the elevator at the other end.
Estimate (Cost Estimate or Estimated Cost of Services) - A professional assessment of the services required and the cost of those services. It is a idea of the price using factors such an estimated or calculated weight of your household goods, a determination of the packing, other services and van space requirements and then applying the rules and charges from the proper tariff. A representative of the carrier will usually provide this service free of charge.
Exclusions - A type or cause of damage for which the carrier is specifically NOT LIABLE. For example, the carrier is not responsible for damage caused by an Act of God, War or Inherent Vice.
Expedited Service - Allows a specific loading or delivery date or transit schedule to be requested. If this option is available, it is for shipments of a higher weight and/or when the shipper is willing to pay for a higher weight (minimum shipment size) to move a smaller shipment more expeditiously. It is sometimes called a “space reservation”.
Explosives or Other Dangerous Articles - Carrier will not carry or move such items. This includes ammunition, paint, matches, flammables, propane bottles – full or empty gas cans, full or oil in power equipment, etc.
Extra Stop (Extra Pickup or Delivery) - If the van is required to stop at more than one location at origin and one location at destination, each additional stop is an Extra Stop. A charge is assessed for each Extra Stop. For example if some of the goods were delivered to an apartment and the rest to a warehouse, a charge for one Extra Stop would be made.
